About Our Novel AI-Enabled Approach to Veteran Suicide Prevention

Attention: we are currently seeking letters of support from all members of the community, including local businesses, non-profits, governments, veterans, citizens and you. Please write a letter and mail it to us at 290 Chestnut Hill Road, Emmaus, PA 18049. This will help us tremendously as we endeavor to demonstrate the life-saving potential and value of this project to the federal government. Thank you in advance, Nicholas.

Preliminary Letter:

Dear Fellow Changemaker:

I hope that you are doing well. My name is Nicholas Birosik, Executive Director of NicNac Charities Inc., and I wanted to share with you a new initiative for which we believe you would be a phenomenal advocate. I watched United Way’s 29 November webinar and learned about the extreme extent to which mental health – and associated record-breaking suicide rates – have plagued the Lehigh Valley. Our solution centers on a whole-of-community approach which is empowered by accurate, timely, and relevant AI-enabled reporting.

Our machine learning model will be trained on over 280,000 observations, gathered over the past 15 years. This system will remain sensitive to changes in the social, political, and economic climate, in a responsive and ethical manner. Without our forthcoming solution, local and national suicide prevention stakeholders would continue to miss those slipping through the cracks – cases that are either ‘invisible’ or unresponsive to traditional methods of intervention. Our goal is to provide and empower community leaders with an accessible toolkit built to save lives.

I personally have history consulting as the lead data warehousing engineer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where I implemented and applied data solutions to better conceptualize and thwart suicide across 200+ institutions of higher education, hospital systems, governmental agencies, law enforcement, and the VA. As a doctoral candidate in AI and Machine Learning at George Washington University, I will be writing my dissertation on the above-described ‘AI-enabled proactive suicide intervention system’; more than just ideating, our non-profit organization is seeking letters of support to enable us to bring this program to life.

With that being said, we were wondering whether you, your organization, or other organizations you may know might be interested in learning more about our proposed system and providing us with a letter(s) of support for this project, so that we can apply for federal funding? Thank you again for all that you do for the community here in the Lehigh Valley!

Best Regards,

Nicholas C. Birosik
